Community Walk

Petaluma

Petaluma, 35 miles north of San Francisco in Northern California’s Sonoma County, is the site of the historic General Vallejo’s Old Adobe rancho and well preserved 1800’s commercial district and homes. Petaluma’s beautiful climate, site on the Petaluma river, excellent schools and quality of life, makes it an ideal community, with clean business parks, and active agricultural surroundings. Petaluma is located near beaches, redwoods, wineries and many historical sites.

Climate

The Petaluma climate follows much the same climate pattern as the rest of coastal California, with winter rainfall and summer dry periods. The annual rainfall averages 24.17 inches which falls for the most part between October and April. The average annual temperature is 57.2oF, with the warmest month in July (65.8 F average) and the coolest month in January (46.9oF). Because of the close proximity to the coast and San Francisco Bay, Petaluma does not have the severe extremes in climate found in the more inland locations, with most of the fog blocked off by the coastal ranges. The growing season is close to 207 days per year. Afternoon breezes from the west clear out the valley of any pollutants, leaving the area fresh daily.
